David Hicks is released from Yatala Labour Prison
David Hicks was released from Yatala Labour Prison this morning. He has served his sentence of imprisonment as handed down by a US military commission.
Mr Hicks was sentenced to 7 years imprisonment after pleading guilty to the charge of providing material support for terrorism. All but 9 months of this sentence was suspended.
Mr Hicks is now entitled to start rebuilding his life. I urge the media and members of the public to respect Mr Hicks’ privacy.
