Improving Access to Justice
Speaking at the commencement of National Law Week, Attorney-General, Robert McClelland, outlined a package of measures to improve the effectiveness and accessibility of the justice system. “Access to justice is not just about access to a court or a lawyer, it is about providing practical, affordable and easily understood information and options to help people to prevent or resolve their disputes,” Mr McClelland said.
On 19 July 2010 the Caretaker Conventions came into effect, with an election to be held on 21 August 2010. During the Caretaker period, no new material will be available on this site unless it relates to administrative or operational matters. Election-related material issued by the Attorney-General will be available from the Australian Labor Party website, which is not maintained or funded by the Commonwealth of Australia.
