Provider Selected to Train and Assess Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners
Attorney-General Robert McClelland today announced the selection of the Australian FDR Training Group to deliver assessments and training helping eligible family dispute resolution practitioners meet new nationwide accreditation standards.
“I congratulate the Australian FDR Training Group for winning the tender and taking on the important task of delivering national assessments and training to practitioners,” Mr McClelland said.
The Training Group will help ensure that from 1 July 2009, all FDR practitioners meet key competencies, including knowledge about how to:
- respond to family and domestic violence in family work;
- create a supportive environment for the safety of vulnerable parties in dispute resolution; and
- operate in a family law environment.
“These new standards will mean that no matter where Australians access Government dispute resolution services, the quality of the service will not differ. This is especially important when domestic violence is involved.”
The Australian FDR Training Group is made up of four Registered Training Organisations, which all have significant experience in providing training to family relationship services.
They are:
- the Australian Institute of Social Relations, a division of Relationships Australia SA;
- Training Ground, a division of Relationships Australia Victoria;
- UnitingCare Institute of Family Practice, a division of Unifam; and
- the Australian Institute for Relationship Studies, a division of Relationship Australia NSW.
All registered practitioners and those who register under the current system by 28 February 2009 will be eligible to access subsidised assessments and training.
