The Attorney-General's Department

The Attorney-General’s Department serves the people of Australia by providing essential expert support to the Australian Government in maintaining and improving Australia’s system of law and justice and its national security and emergency management systems, natural disaster relief and administration of Commonwealth Territories.

The Department is the central policy and coordinating element of the Attorney-General’s portfolio, provides support for the Australian Attorney-General in his role as First Law Officer.
