Travel to UK for Anzac Day commemorations

23 April 2015

I will visit the United Kingdom to represent the Australian Government at Anzac Centenary commemorative events being held in London.

I will attend the Dawn Service at Wellington Arch, where I will lay a wreath on behalf of the Australian Government. I will also participate in a memorial service at the Cenotaph, and will attend a memorial service at St Paul’s Cathedral and a Service of Commemoration at Westminster Abbey.

Millions of Australians across this continent and across the world will pay tribute to the brave men and women of the Australia New Zealand Army Corp on the centenary of Anzac. Their courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

We remember not only the Gallipoli landings, but the 100 years of service and sacrifice by men and women that have since followed in all wars, conflicts and peace keeping efforts our countries have been involved in.

The Australian Government is assisting Australians to reflect on the Anzac legacy and share their own commemorative activities through the support of the Anzac Centenary Arts and Culture Fund.

Arts events in particular are an opportunity for Australians to participate in this important anniversary within their own communities whether they are in capital cities or regional and remote locations.
