The Australian Government welcomes the appointment of Mr Terrey Arcus AM as Chair of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
Mr Arcus is currently a Non-Executive Director of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and will commence as Chair immediately.
Mr Arcus has more than 30 years of experience advising CEOs, boards and senior managers across a range of industries on corporate direction and business strategy. In 2007 he was awarded an Order of Australia in recognition of his pro-bono work advising leaders of large not-for-profit education, arts and medical institutions.
The Sydney Symphony Orchestra is one of Australia's preeminent performing arts organisations, proudly supported by the Australian Government through the Australia Council as one of 28 recognised Australian Major Performing Arts Companies.
Australia's major performing arts companies play a vital role in the development of artists and audiences and are large employers of artists and arts professionals in Australia.
I extend my thanks to outgoing Chair John Conde AO for eight years of outstanding service to the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Under Mr Conde's leadership the Orchestra has gone from strength to strength.
