Native Title Anthropologist Grants
7 March 2016
Applications for the 2016-2017 Native Title Anthropologist Grants Programme are now open.
The Grants Programme will provide Commonwealth funding of $931,000 over three years to supporting anthropologists to increase native title anthropology capacity.
Anthropologists play an important role in the native title system by providing high-quality connection evidence to claimants, governments and other parties.
The programme funds initiatives that support mid- to senior-level native title anthropologists' professional development and participation in applied anthropological work.
Facilitating native title parties' access to qualified and experienced anthropologists supports the resolution of native title claims.
Grants available include $302,000 for 2016-17, $310,000 in 2017-18 and $319,000 in 2018-19.
I encourage collaborative applications that can develop and support anthropologists to progress towards becoming experts in their field.
Applications are required to demonstrate value for money and must not replicate existing programs.
Further information is available at www.ag.gov.au/legalsystem/nativetitle/pages/native-title-anthropologist-grants-programme.aspx.
Applications close on 1 April 2016.
